beat-a-go-go.com
In 2005, Heather-Rose launched a webzine devoted to unusual and groundbreaking music that was off the beaten path in terms of the established music media. She was interested in covering lesser-known artists, particularly artists from countries other than the US, as well as more famous artists who were taking chances and being adventurous in ways that were different from their usual style. Her goal was to "get the word out" about artists and bands who were producing great music but weren't being covered by the regular media.
The zine was called beat-a-go-go.com. The original format of the zine featured several articles by contributing writers and a number of interviews Heather-Rose did with musicians, including Finnish rock star Ismo Alanko, punk rock drummer Cheshire Agusta, and Slovenian jazz and rock artists.
In June 2006, the site was transformed into a blogzine in which readers can comment and post their own "diaries". The focus of the site was enlarged to include coverage of arts besides music, as well as nonfiction, short fiction and poetry.
The new site is online at www.beat-a-go-go.com. Come and participate!
